Their renowned Junior Program promotes the sports of sailing and swimming. For eight weeks in the summer, children ages 5-18 are given an opportunity to learn life long skills, develop great friendships, and learn to appreciate the meaning of sportsmanship and camaraderie. The swim team competes in meets around the area and serves as a good feeder program to local school teams. MRYC junior sailors participate in regattas all summer long. Many of our sailors have gone on to compete at the intercollegiate level and have earned state, national, international, and world championships. Annually, MRYC hosts the “Vivian K. Dooren Junior Powder Puff Regatta” that draws 250 young ladies from yacht clubs up and down the East Coast.
Opportunities abound to sail and participate in one design and cruising fleets. These unforgettable experiences are available to male & female, young & old, beginners & advanced.
Virtually every summer day and evening the Club is busy with sailing, swimming, and social activities. Sailors and non-sailors alike can participate on the water in race patrol, or regatta committee, as well as the many social aspects of the Club. Friday night dinners have become a tradition and a wonderful way to get the entire family to the Club for an evening of fun with delicious affordable home cooked meals and a way to foster lasting friendships.
For over eight decades, MRYC has provided a way of life on the water while still keeping dues and spending at an affordable price. For more information contact us.
